Used as a protected Arginine homologue in peptide synthesis. The guanidino-group is protected by protonation, which can be restored after Fmoc-cleavage by pre-washing of the peptide with Py.HBr (0.08M in DMF) for 10min. prior to the next coupling.  Asami, T. et al Bioorg.
